Because EA screwed the game up, and didn't develop the game to add contracts and free agency. We are being forced to create our own ways of handling it. Below you will find how that's done.
1) Each Off-Season each Human controlled team will be responsible for releasing 7, 8 or 9 players from their roster.
If you have 53 players - 7 cuts
If you have 54 players - 8 cuts (1 extra random cut)
If you have 55 players - 9 cuts (2 extra random cuts)
2) Players will be released based on your teams rating scale. You will release 1 player from each of the following scales. Then any 2 Random Players.
Based on Ratings of course:
- Cut 1 - 1 player from your top 10 rated players
- Cut 2 - 1 player from your top 11 - 20 rated players
- Cut 3 - 1 player from your top 21 - 30 rated players
- Cut 4 - 1 player from your top 31 - 40 rated players
- Cut 5 - 1 player from your top 41 - 55 rated players
- Cut 6 - 1 random players for your roster, Any rating
- Cut 7 - 1 random players for your roster, Any rating
- Cut 8 (If needed) - 1 random players for your roster, Any rating
- Cut 9 (If needed) - 1 random players for your roster, Any rating
For Example:
The Texans will have to release:
1 Player from the following group of players
- WR Andre Johnson 98
- DE Mario Williams 94
- LB Demeco Ryans 88
- HB Steve Slaton 87
- TE Owen Daniels 86
- CB Chris McAllister 86
- LG Mike Wahle 85
- DE Antonio Smith 84
- CB Dunta Robinson 84
- RT Eric Winston 82

- K Kris Brown 82

- If you are trying to release a player at certain position where you only have the minimum required, like 1 FB, the game wont allow it. You then must choose somebody else.
- You can only cut a Kicker or Punter if you have two on your roster. They can only count as Cut 6 or 7.
- Once you have released the 7, 8 or 9 players. We have our Rookie Draft.
- After the Rookie Draft we will hold Off Season Free Agent Draft. After the Free Agent Draft, you can bid on any remaining free agents out there. Same Free Agent bidding rules apply. You can bid on who you and want and if you win a bid you have to cut someone like always to fit under the cap and roster limits.
- All signings must fall under the cap.
